Mail week 32

This week I have (only) received 3 letters, but I got 8 postcards as well :)

I love how in summer you get LOADS of postcards by surprise because everyone is in holidays somewhere and thinks of you <3

Days 6, 7 + 8 - Helsinki

Sadly on day 6 Lily had to leave :( I am missing her a lot already!
I'll use one post for 3 days, because we didn't do as much as on the other days.

On day 6 my mum and me slept late into the day, as the days before were FULL of activity!
We later went shopping, my mum got me 3 T-shirts from Super Dry and one T-Shirt + a dress from Showroom 8 <3
My new favourite pieces!
I also got some more Moomin things for my Japanese pen pals (I hope they'll like it) and we went to some souvenir shops.

On day 7 we took a boat to Soumenlinna (the castle on it is a UNESCO sight). The boat there and back was 7€ / person and each way was around 15 minutes from the Helsinki (tourist) harbour.
We walked around the Island most of the day and really enjoyed seeing all the old buildings.

For dinner we went to an Italian restaurant in Kamppi centre (they also serve gluten free dishes), it was really good!!






On day 8 we slept a lot, and when we had to check out we took the next Finnair bus to the airport. (6,30€ / person). We spent the rest of the wait in the airport eating, reading and also did some shopping (I got some more Moomin things).

And that was my one week Helsinki holiday, and it went past WAY to quickly :(
I miss Lily so much! Hope she'll come visit me soon as well!

Day 5 - Tallinn

This is going to be picture heavy!!

So, on day 5 the 3 of us went to Tallinn (for those who don't know, it's the capital city of Estonia). We took a fairy at 7.30am (about 20€ / person both ways), it took us about 2 hours to get from Helsinki to Tallinn.
In Tallinn we got a late breakfast: sushi takeaway - yumm!

We first walked around the old city and saw all the main sights there are and there were great viewing platforms every now and then.

In between we went to a small Cafe inside the city wall. We had to get up by climbing a old and narrow staircase, but the view (and the milkshakes) were worth the effort!

For dinner we went to "St.Patrick's", we all just had appetisers and they were GREAT!
As a dessert Lily and me shared some pancakes :3

Day 4 - Porvoo

Today we went to Porvoo. We took a Bus from the modern art to the Porvoo Bus station. Lily prebooked the tickets for a VERY cheap price, thus it was only 2€ each for a 45 minute drive. 
When went to a Cafe / Restaurant just by the bus stop called "Cabriole", I had a Feta Sandwich with some aubergine, salad and melon plus a tea to refill as much as I want for 11,80€.  It was very delicious! They also have awesome looking cakes, which are too pretty to eat :3

 We went to the old city of Porvoo to see some shops. Everything looked really old and pretty! There were a lot of nostalgic and antique shops but of course also souvenir shops!
I went to buy postcards at "Sadunhenki" near a marketplace, they have nice and cheap ones there and also some other souvenirs!

The road lead us to a Lutheran church. The roof was rebuild in 2006 after a fire, this is why not everything is painted from the inside. The entrance is free.

Near the church are the "devil steps", it doesn't even look like a proper way all the way through, but it was nice and calm, without any other tourist, and the houses were all very pretty!

Porvoo is the 2nd oldest town of Helsinki, which is why a lot of people go there :)
 

We walked down the hill to get to the river. It all looked nice and calm.

For lunch we went to the restaurant "zum Beispiel" (German: for example) we all had a freshly made Tomato soup wit sheep cheese for 9€, bread with oil and acetto was free. 
After we went to a sweet shop to buy loads of chocolate, my favourites are "orange" chocolate drops and rice-chocolates, the last one is made without milk and sugar and still tastes wonderful!

 We went back with a slower bus which went around the countryside of Finland, it was 12€ per person and took 1hour and 15minutes.

For dinner I got some lemonade, a cheese sandwich and a heart filled with a chocolate - milk cream. YUMMY!
